General

Since the 1st July 2013 certain products sold within the EU have been required to carry a CE marking.

A CE marking is an indicator of a product’s compliance with EU legislation - eg safety, health and environmental. They ensure free movement of these products within the European market

CE markings only apply to products that come under the new harmonised product standards agreed by the EEC. These harmonised standards are known as hENs

Products Covered

At present the only product type manufactured by Swish that is affected is the range of Cladding profiles: Shiplap, TeeGee, OpenV and Feather Edge. Cladding trims are not affected.

In order to ensure compliance with the new regulations, Swish carried out tests for fire resistance, impact resistance and durability in accordance with the harmonised standard for PVC cladding, hEN 13245-2:2008.

To demonstrate that our products have been tested Swish has produced a Declaration of Performance, a statement which asserts that Swish cladding products comply with the requirements of the standard (one for light colours and one for dark colours and foils).

Swish Actions

Since 1st July 2013 Swish has:

  • placed the CE mark on all cladding boards
  • provided customers with access to DoP’s (Declaration of Performance) via our website, or in hard copy if required.

The marking is on the back of the boards and has

  • the words “Pvc-Ue Profile For External Wall/Ceiling Finishes”,
  • the CE mark
  • EN 13245-2:2008 (the harmonised standard)
  • The date of manufacture and line number

Notes

  • Products manufactured before 30th June 2013 and any warehouse stock, customers stocks etc, are not required to have the CE marking on them and can still be supplied into the market place without restriction.
