A dilapidated railway station in Sussex was dramatically transformed when cellular PVC Shiplap cladding from Swish Building Products was used in its refurbishment.Cooden Beach Station on the Coastway East line
is in a very exposed position, situated right next to the sea, and
had suffered the effects of years of extreme coastal conditions. In
order to prevent the problem recurring, contractor Leslie J Thorpe
Ltd has used durable, low-maintenance products that will not
deteriorate or weather in the same way as timber.
Lee Thorpe, project manager for Leslie J
Thorpe, explains, "The local council was concerned that the station
should retain its original appearance. They were pleased that we
were able to recreate its unique features using modern, high
specification materials that will retain their looks almost
indefinitely with minimum maintenance.
"Shiplap cladding from Swish was specified by
the surveyor as it exceeds all the requirements for this project.
In addition to the obvious aesthetic and functional benefits, the
cladding was easy to install. The result is a remarkable
transformation that everyone is delighted with."
The Swish cladding range offers considerable
design choice. It is available in four styles: Shiplap, Tee Gee,
Feather Edge and Open V, with cover widths of 100mm, 125mm and
150mm, and can be fitted in a variety of ways.
Cellular PVC cladding can improve the thermal
properties of a building's fabric, as well as providing an
excellent low maintenance solution for installers and specifiers
involved in refurbishment.
Available in white as standard, selected
profiles are also offered in Mahogany and Light Oak. The foiled
boards carry a 10-Year Guarantee. All Swish white cellular PVC
profiles carry a 15-Year Guarantee.
