Cooden Beach Station on the Coastway East line is in a very exposed position, situated right next to the sea, and had suffered the effects of years of extreme coastal conditions. In order to prevent the problem recurring, contractor Leslie J Thorpe Ltd has used durable, low-maintenance products that will not deteriorate or weather in the same way as timber.

 

Lee Thorpe, project manager for Leslie J Thorpe, explains, "The local council was concerned that the station should retain its original appearance. They were pleased that we were able to recreate its unique features using modern, high specification materials that will retain their looks almost indefinitely with minimum maintenance.
